sad endings always start with a cry
and you wish you would have set straight your lies
so you could feel peace when you close your eyes
you grab your trunk and you grip your hat
passing trash and streets filled with alley cats
you quit your job to go work for a rat
a sad smile and you wonder if you'll ever miss that
tired feet because sad hours seem long
straight face in an attempt at appearing strong
you still think that what you did was wrong
it could've worked, you could've tried to get along
use the rain as an excuse to hide your face
old friends haunting a familiar place
and you wonder if you'll ever win the race
your heart skips, failing to keep its pace
ripped jeans and skinned up knees
fumble in your pocket trying to grab your keys
enter an apartment thats been vacant for weeks
kick of your shoes and try to find release
go to sleep with the light on that night
fighting battles in your head about what's wrong and right
realize the truth isn't just black and white
take some pills to hush your thoughts, out of spite
