It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, angel wasn’t complaining about eating his food, and it seemed that all the pegasi had gotten up early to remove all of the clouds from the sky. It was days like these that I wanted to spend all day in the sky. That is, if my wings were strong enough to keep me aloft long enough.
It was when I was feeding my flamingo in my garden that the ground began to shake. I had no other instinct than to fly inside and grab angel. So I did. Once I had her, I fled my cottage and flew as high as I could.
It seemed as if ponyville was still trembling once I had taken refuge in a cloud with angel. I pulled out a bottle of potion that twig light had given me, in the emergency that angel and I would need to take shelter in a cloud for a long time, and fed angel a few drops. Once he had swallowed them, I set him down on the cloud. He didn’t fall through. I was relieved. The potion had worked.
I peaked my head out from the security of the cloud and surveyed the setting of ponyville. Ponies were galloping away from their homes with horrified expressions on their faces. In the midst of all this chaos, one pegasi remained still.
It was rainbow dash! I looked at her closely, curious why she hadn’t taken refuge in a cloud like all the other pegasi. I saw, swaddled in her arms, an egg. For the first time, I noticed soarin kneeling next to her, curiously looking at the egg. There was a loud clap of what sounded like thunder, and I buried myself back into the cloud.
Something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye, and I looked up to see soarin and rainbow dash flying away, with worried expressions on their faces. There was another loud crash, and I buried myself in the cloud once more.
When the loud noises had stopped, I poked my head out from inside the cloud. Rainbow dash and soarin were no longer in sight. I picked up angel and set her in my hair.
I took off from the cloud and flew as high as I dared to go. I searched the sky, but rainbow dash and soarin were still no where in sight. Or that egg.
I wondered what could have been inside that egg. Could it have been a dragon egg? Knowing rainbow dash, she probably would have flown into a dragons cave to get one. Could that have been why there was so much destruction in ponyville? Was the mommy dragon trying to get back the baby daragon egg? That had to be it.
But why was soarin there? I had suspected that him and rainbow dash were in a relationship, but rainbow dash had eagerly tried to talk me out of the idea. In the long run, that only led to more suspicion.
I looked down at ponyville. It was a complete disaster. Almost all of the houses had collapsed and were engulfed in smoke. There were a few injured ponies laying on the side of the road, but they didn’t look like they were going to make it.
I heard the sounds of two sets of wings flapping behind me. Instinctively, my wings stuck to the sides of my body, and I started to fall.
I was angry at myself for being cowardly. But I just couldn’t stand somepony watching me fly. They could be judging me. Which they didn’t have to. Most of ponyville knew that I wasn’t the best flyer.
I hit the ground hard. My instict to cover my face and huddle up into a ball, dominated my instinct to brace myself for the landing. Angel pulled my whooves from my face and gave me a sympathetic look that told me that everything was going to be alright.
The sounds of hooves landing on the ground entered my ears, and I began to hear my heart beating with fright. I covered my face with my hooves again in fear.
“Fluttershy,” a familiar voice broke the terrifying silence.
“Princess Celestia?” I whimpered shyly as I peeked around my hooves.
“Yes, Fluttershy, its okay. There’s nothing to be afraid of.
“oh, but there is!” I said, facing the princess and standing up, “all of ponyville has been destroyed! I don’t know if there will be any survivors! I think it might be a mommy dragon!” suddenly the safety of big Macintosh flashed in my brain.
“my dear Fluttershy, why would a mother dragon be rampaging through ponyville?” princess Celestia asked, a hint of laughter in her voice.
“ Because my friends, soarin and rainbow dash, flew off with a blue and purple egg--”
“ did you say, an egg?” princess Celestia interrupted, her face taking the form of fear.
“ yes, but--”
“ we need to find your friend rainbow dash, and get that egg! Sister, can you keep the moon from rising tonight? We need daylight to search for rainbow dash.”
sister? I thought, unless, NO!
“yes, I will see what I can do.”
Princess Luna landed on the ground, and pulled in her wings.
I needed to be strong. I couldn’t be afraid of night mare moon, if I was, we might not be able to find rainbow dash in time. Even then, a squeal escaped my lips.
“princess, why is it so urgent that we get the egg?” I asked curiously.
“Fluttershy, im afraid that inside that egg, Is discord’s son.”
So many questions and images raced through my head as the words the princess uttered began to process. What did this mean for the fate of equestria? Who was the mother of discord’s son? What does this have to do with the destruction of ponyville? But all that would come out of my mouth was- “ bu-wha-arhgfu?”
The princess of Equestria looked at me with concern.
“ I know that you have many questions, but I am afraid that they will have to wait for later. For the moment, our only concern needs to be finding rainbow dash.” the princess said with urgency.
Suddenly the ground began to shake violently. The ground seemed to slope, and as I looked to my left, 3 houses fell, as the ground dropped out of place.
